『発明BOYカニパン』の続編で、前作から5年後という設定である。レギュラーキャラクターは思春期世代になり、キャラクターデザインも一新され頭身が延びた。当初は前作のようなコメディ、特にラブコメを散りばめた構成だったが、次第にかなりシリアスなストーリー展開へ進んでいった。 今作を中心にCD・コミック連載・ゲームソフト発売を軸にしたメディアミックスが展開され、本放送時にはドリームキャストの拡販を目論んでいたセガ・エンタープライゼスをメインスポンサーに迎えた。その為劇中にもドリームキャストのメモリーカードが登場する。。This popular animated television cartoon featured two Stone Age families, the Flintstones and their neighbors, the Rubbles. Much of the humor was based on its comic portrayals of modern conveniences, reinterpreted using Stone Age 'technology.' Most notably were their cars, complete with absence of floorboards to allow them to be 'foot-powered.'。
